Photo Etching in the Third Dimension
Half Etching Creates Third Dimension
Partially etched features in photo etching have a variety of applications. One of the most common is to create decorative detail such as is used in scale model designs and giftware. Industrial uses for photo etched surface detail include creating heat dissipating features, flow channels for fuel cell plates, heat exchangers, and sensor diaphragms, rupture seams for pressure membranes, fold lines for forming, relief for tool access, metal removal for weight reduction and more.
Partially etched features can occur on both sides of the metal, as long as they are offset from etched features on the other side.. And, even a corrugated effect can be chemically etched without generating forming stresses in the metal.
