Photo Etching in the Third Dimension
Partially etched features in photo etching have a variety of applications. One of the most common is to create decorative detail such as is used in scale model design and giftware. Industrial uses include creating heat dissipating features, flow channels for fuel cell plates and sensor diaphragms, rupture seams for pressure membranes, fold lines for forming, relief for tool access, metal removal for weight reduction and more.
Partially etched features can occur on both sides of the metal. And, even a corrugated effect can be produced without generating forming stresses in the metal.
